Charlotte little league softball team takes down powerhouse to win state championship
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Mallard Creek Optimist Club Softball team took down a local powerhouse over the weekend to advance to the Southeast Regionals. 

The Mallard Creek Majors all-star team defeated Rowan County Little League to win their first-ever state championship. The division has players between ages 9-12.

The team will head to Warner Robins, Georgia, to start Regional play July 20 with a chance to advance to the Little League World Series. All games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. 

Rowan County has reached the LLWS finals four times since 2015, winning it all in 2015 and 2019.
