Alpine Kiwanis to sell exclusive Brat Days-sized brats after storm cancels annual event

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Alpine Kiwanis will be selling exclusive brats and hot dogs, unavailable in stores, that were intended to be used for the annual Brat Days event.

Brat Days was canceled after a severe flash flood struck the Rockford area on Thursday night.

“These Johnsonville Brats and Hot Dogs cannot be purchased in stores and are made by Johnsonville exclusively for our Brat Days,” Alpine Kiwanis said of the sale items.

The sale will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 18th and 19th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Blain’s Farm + Fleet parking lot, at 7300 E Riverside Blvd.

In addition, Mrs. Fisher’s potato chips, chocolate chip cookies, and veggie barbeque will also be sold.

“In the 54 years of Brat Days, we had never experienced a storm like this, causing us to totally cancel Brat Days,” organizers said. “We are truly grateful for the contributions from the community that have provided sponsorships, donations, both in-kind and monetary, and to the many volunteers that have given their time and energy to assist with the clean-up efforts at both sites.  The generosity and kindness shown by many has been overwhelming.  We cannot thank the community enough.”
