SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Krewe of Barkus & Meoux and the Shreveport Volunteer Network are gathering essential supplies for humans and animals affected by last week’s devastating Texas floods that left more than 100 people dead.

The Krewe made a social media post on Thursday morning, “These last few days, we have all seen the tragic events unfolding in the Hill Country of Texas. Our hearts are with those who are still searching for their family members and friends, both human and animal.”

The Krewe is collecting the following items:

  • Leashes
  • Collars
  • Harnesses
  • Treats
  • Dry and wet food
  • Blankets
  • Crates and Kennels
  • Toys
  • Pet nail clippers
  • Poop bags and holders
  • Can openers
  • Cases of bottled water
  • Paper products
  • Cat sand

    Essential supplies needed for Texas Flood Victims:

    • Baby formula, diapers, wipes
    • Toilet paper, paper towels
    • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant
    • Shampoo, conditioner, towels, washcloths
    • Tarps, totes, rakes, shovels, and work gloves

    The Shreveport Volunteer Network (SVN)says they will be sending supplies directly to families in Kerrville and Hunt, Texas.

    The Krewe notes that you can drop off their donations curbside at Hollywood Feed, located at 1384 E 70th St, Shreveport, LA 71105, or at the SVN’s Warehouse, 8924 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport.

    Drop-Off Times at SVN Warehouse:

    • Saturday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
    • Sunday: 1:00–4:00 PM
