Motorcycle crash leaves two injured in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A motorcycle crash sent two people to the hospital on Thursday night.

Caddo Fire District 4 and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 10000 block of Woolworth Road.

According to fire officials, when emergency responders got there, they located a single motorcycle that had left the roadway. The male rider and female passenger had been thrown approximately 20 feet down an embankment.

Despite the severity of the crash, both victims were alert and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport’s Trauma Center for further treatment.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to CPSO, Woolworth Road is known for heavy animal activity along the roadway at night, which may have been a factor in the wreck.

Public Information Officer John Phelan emphasized the importance of protective gear.

“It’s imperative that all riders wear proper protective equipment—helmets, gloves, eye protection, and durable clothing. When riding at night, your head must be on a swivel. Out here on these beautiful country roads, wildlife and even domestic animals can appear without warning. Awareness and gear save lives,” Phelan says.

Caddo Fire District 4 reminds all motorcyclists to wear DOT-approved helmets, eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing, especially when riding at night, when unexpected hazards like wildlife are more common.
