An arrest citation said the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was called just before 8 p.m. on July 6 to a home on Kentucky Highway 618 near Crab Orchard.
Deputies said a woman came home and found her 15-year-old daughter had just come out of an outbuilding. Inside, the woman said she found 33-year-old Gerald Burchfield hiding behind a mattress with his pants down.
Despite being told by the woman not to leave as she called the police, Burchfield reportedly fled on his moped, according to the citation.
The sheriff’s office said they found him on U.S. Highway 150 and pulled him over.
The teen told deputies that she and Burchfield had previously had sex. She said Burchfield was trying to remove her clothes for sex when she stopped him because her mother was home.
Burchfield told LCSO that he and the girl had been communicating for a while but denied any sexual activity had occurred. During the interview, deputies said he admitted to agreeing to perform oral sex on her, and the two had discussed other sexual acts.
Just before 9 p.m., Burchfield was arrested and charged with third-degree rape, no operators (moped license), and procuring use of a minor by electronic means.
Court records show he was booked into the Pulaski County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 14.
