Dead body found in Lincoln County believed to be man missing since July 4th: Sheriff

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The body of a missing man has been found in a wooded area behind a Food Lion, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, July 16, law enforcement looked for 53-year-old Robert Wolf Jr., who was last seen on July 4 at his residence on Little Street in Lincolnton. Wolf’s family reportedly found his truck in the Food Lion parking lot on Stanford Road off E. Main Street, which is an area Wolf went to often, officials said.

During the search in the wooded area behind the Food Lion, a search team found a dead man who was tentatively identified as Wolf. The sheriff’s office is still awaiting a positive identification.

This is an active investigation from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office because the body was found outside of Lincolnton City’s jurisdiction.
