IMPD: ‘Young child’ shot, killed on Indy’s near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A young child is reportedly dead after a shooting on Indy’s near northeast side.

Indianapolis Metro police crews were called just after 12 p.m. Friday to the Methodist Hospital emergency room for a person shot. Upon arrival, they located a young juvenile victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound and in critical condition.

Around 12:40 p.m., IMPD officials said the young victim had been pronounced dead. An exact age was not provided.

Officers said the initial incident is believed to have occurred in the 2000 block of Ralston Avenue on the city’s near northeast side. FOX59/CBS4 has a crew on the way to the scene to gather more information.
