BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — July 9, 2025 — Two men were arrested Tuesday night after Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a stolen trailer and more than 130 grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Bloomington’s west side.
According to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies located a utility truck towing a trailer reported stolen out of Kentucky around 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of West Third Street and South Liberty Drive. The vehicle was stopped in a nearby parking lot, where deputies made contact with two male occupants.
During the investigation, deputies learned that one of the men had a nationwide extradition warrant out of Alabama related to felony weapons charges. A search of his person revealed approximately 26 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Deputies then established probable cause to search the vehicle. Inside, they discovered an additional bag containing 112 grams of suspected methamphetamine, bringing the total seizure to 138 grams.
Austin Martin, 30, of Indianapolis, was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail on a Level 3 felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Brad Blakely, 33, of Gadsden, Alabama, was also taken into custody. He faces a Level 4 felony charge of possession of methamphetamine, in addition to the outstanding felony warrant from Alabama.
The stolen trailer was impounded and is being held in secure storage until it can be retrieved by its rightful owner.
