BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A 48-year-old Bloomington man was arrested last Wednesday after a series of controlled buys and a hotel stop led detectives to seize a handgun and suspected narcotics, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Monroe Circuit Court.
Antonio Marquise Davis, of the 100 block of South Pete Ellis Drive, faces six felony counts: dealing in methamphetamine (Level 2 and Level 3), dealing in cocaine (two Level 4 counts), possession of cocaine (Level 5), and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon (Level 4), the affidavit states.
Police made three controlled buys during the weeks of Oct. 14, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. The purchases, documented on audio and video, yielded about 28.34 grams of methamphetamine in the first buy, 7.51 grams of methamphetamine and 0.32 grams of cocaine in the second, and 1.17 grams of cocaine in the third, according to the filing.
On Oct. 29, officers watching the Quality Inn at 1100 W. Rappel Ave. detained Davis and a woman identified as his girlfriend, the affidavit says. Davis was using his girlfriend’s phone for drug sales, according to the PC.
Investigators reported finding an extended magazine and a black Taurus 9mm handgun on Davis, who allegedly told detectives “everything” was his and acknowledged recent drug use. A search of property at the hotel turned up a digital scale and a tied bag containing about 7.69 grams of suspected cocaine, along with four blue “M30” pills consistent with pressed fentanyl found in a Suboxone bottle bearing the girlfriend’s name, according to the document.
Police then executed a search warrant at Davis’ apartment on South Pete Ellis Drive, where they reported finding handgun and rifle ammunition, another digital scale, a handgun holster and a small amount of green leafy substance in a pill container, the affidavit says.
The filing notes Davis has prior felony convictions, including a 2009 Monroe County conviction for dealing in cocaine and a 2020 Evansville conviction for felony possession of a firearm—allegations used to support the serious violent felon firearm charge.
Davis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
