The armed robbery occurred on the afternoon of May 21 in the 400 block of Saratoga Avenue, authorities said. During the meetup, one of the suspects brandished a firearm at the boy and stole two pairs of shoes he was attempting to sell. As the two suspects fled in a vehicle, one of them shot at the victim, police said. The boy was uninjured in the shooting.
Detectives investigating the case identified the suspects as a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy. Police did not release the names of the suspects due to their age.
Both teen suspects were found and arrested on June 19 in San Jose. Police searches of their residences located a privately made firearm and recovered the stolen sneakers.
Photos of the shoes released by police appear to show a pair of Louis Vuitton Skate sneakers, currently retailing for $5,600, and a pair of Gucci Rhyton GG sneakers.
The suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
