Man indicted in connection with fatal Washington Parish shooting case

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A man was indicted on Wednesday, July 9 for an alleged second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in Washington Parish.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, 34-year-old Jerry Baker Jr. of Mount Hermon was indicted in connection with the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Ryan Simmons of Franklinton on Jan. 2, 2025.

Assistant District Attorney Ronald Gracianette presented the case to the grand jury.
