KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Three men have been arrested, and a fourth person is being sought following a shooting that happened in Kenner on Tuesday, July 8.
According to the Kenner Police Department, officers began responding to the shooting, which happened around 2425 West Metairie Ave., around 4:53 p.m. Initial information from the caller who reported the shooting stated that the suspects were heading south on Roosevelt Boulevard.
On scene, officers say they found a 14-year-old male who had been shot in his leg. He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment and released later that day.
Following a search, KPD officials said 17-year-old Tory Nelson, of Metairie; 21-year-old Jason King, of Kenner and 17-year-old Rayfield Lee, also of Kenner, were found and arrested in connection with the incident. Through victim identification and interviews, investigators identified Nelson as the alleged shooter with King and Lee as alleged accomplices.
KPD officials say that after the shooting, the Nelson allegedly handed off his firearm to his brother, a juvenile, who then reportedly fled south on a bicycle. He remains at large; however, an arrest warrant was obtained for his involvement.
Nelson faces charges of aggravated battery, illegal use of a weapon and obstruction of justice. King faces charges of principal to aggravated battery and obstruction of justice. Lee faces charges of principal to aggravated battery, obstruction of justice, possession of schedule I narcotics and possession of schedule II narcotics.
