The DOJ says 39-year-old Anthony Randall, of Philadelphia, will also have to spend five years of supervised release for armed robbery and gun offenses.
Randall carried out the robberies just months after he was released from federal prison in March 2021 for six other armed robberies in 2006, prosecutors say.
“Anthony Randall terrorized the community during his extreme armed robbery spree — all while on supervised release for his previous string of gunpoint crimes,” U.S. Attorney David Metcalf said. “Prosecuting committed offenders like this is a priority for my office. We’ll continue to get violent criminals off the street and make Philadelphia safer.”
Prosecutors say Randall was indicted with two counts of robbery, which interfere with interstate commerce (Hobbs Act Robbery), and one count of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, in February 2024.
Randall pleaded guilty to the new charges in March.
A CVS and a Philadelphia Pretzel Factory were among the stores robbed by Randall in the fall of 2021, according to the DOJ.
“No one should have to live or work in fear,” Wayne A. Jacobs, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division, said. “Armed robberies don’t just endanger lives, they erode the sense of safety that every person deserves. Today’s sentencing sends a clear message: the FBI is unwavering in its commitment to protecting our communities and holding violent offenders accountable for their actions.”
FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department investigated the case.
