A total of 29,300 birds in Lancaster County that were “commercial raised for release upland game” were confirmed on July 2 to have the virus, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) website.
The CDC says that infections have been declining, according to a report from The Hill. There have also been zero reported human cases of bird flu in Pennsylvania.
The last time cases of bird flu were reported in the U.S. by the USDA was June 11 in Idaho, where 10 birds were found to have the virus.
A poultry facility in Lancaster County was also hit by the outbreak in March.
The most recent reported case of Avian Influenza in Pennsylvania was in Northampton County in May, where a flock of 30 birds where impacted. The largest outbreak in Pennsylvania, though, was at a table egg layer in Dauphin County in February when more than two million birds were caught in the outbreak.
Since the start of the outbreak in February 2022, the USDA reports that 174.83 million birds have been impacted. All 50 states and one territory have reported outbreaks.
