Man, woman arrested in Adams County carjacking case

ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Adams County deputies arrested a man and a woman in connection to a carjacking.

Deputies responded to a home on Lower Woodville Road around 11:35 p.m. on July 5.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said the victim’s vehicle was approached by a black 2015 Nissan Altima on Highway 2002. He said the Altima was being driven by Yasmine Lyles, with Jordan Butler as a passenger.

The victim reported that Butler pointed a firearm and made verbal threats during the encounter.

After the victim fled to a nearby residence for safety, Patten said the suspects followed. One of the suspects then allegedly entered the vehicle’s truck and drove away from the scene.

Deputies patrolling the Lagrange subdivision located the Altima at a residence on Lotus Drive. Both Lyles and Butler were arrested without incident and transported to the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Patten, the stolen Dodge truck was later recovered on Beau Pre Road.

Both Lyles and Butler were charged with carjacking/attempted carjacking (armed) and simple assault-attempt by physical menace.
