1 dead after police shooting in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Ind. – An investigation is underway after a man was killed in a shooting involving police officers in Greenfield Monday night.

The Greenfield Police Department confirmed officers were involved in the incident that took place just before 10 p.m.

Indiana State Police said officers initially responded to a domestic incident at a home on Sedgewick Lane around 9:25 p.m. The incident escalated into a shooting involving officers, police said.

Investigators said a 54-year-old man was struck by the gunfire and was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. No officers were hurt, according to police, and there were no children inside the home at the time of the shooting.

ISP detectives were called to investigate the incident, which is standard operating procedure, Greenfield PD said. Investigators were processing the scene.

No other details were provided. The incident remains under investigation.
