Multi-vehicle crash causes major delays on Maryland’s Bay Bridge

MARYLAND (DC News Now) — A collision on the Fourth of July caused major delays for drivers on the Bay Bridge.

The Maryland Transit Authority (MDTA) said the crash happened at around 11:40 a.m. and involved a car and a tractor-trailer. At least one person was reportedly trapped in their vehicle, and a medevac was called to respond.

Investigators said the driver of the passenger vehicle was driving east when, for unknown reasons, they swerved and crashed into the truck.

The driver was taken by helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer driver was not hurt.

As a result of the crash, all lanes headed westbound were closed for more than an hour.
