According to the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Waterworks District No. 1, around 8,018 people are under the advisory after the leak was detected and water pressured dropped to below 20 psi.
Officials say the boil advisory applies to residents south of 3792 Highway 56 along highways 55, 56 and 665, as well as those along Company Canal Road and Bourg Larose Highway.
Due to the affects of the leak falling over parish lines, the Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 also issued an advisory, stating that those in the Grand Bois Community and Romero Subdivision in Lower Bayou Blue should boil their water as well.
Once the leak is repaired and water samples come back with safe results, the boil advisories will reportedly be lifted. For updates, visit the Lafourche Parish Water District’s website or the Terrebonne Parish Water District’s website. Click here for a map of the advisory from the TPWD.
