Upon arrival, fire crews found that the gas tank of the vehicle had ruptured, causing the fire to spread rapidly throughout the car. Fortunately, the driver was already safely out of the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage to the surrounding area. Thanks to their quick actions, the fire was fully contained, and the road was cleared and reopened before daylight.
“We’re grateful the driver was unharmed in this incident,” the Tye VFD said in a Facebook post. “Our team responded quickly and efficiently to prevent the fire from spreading.”
Taylor County Sheriff’s Office also assisted by ensuring the area was secured, keeping passing motorists at a safe distance while crews worked.
As soon as the scene was cleared, the firefighters returned to the station, cleaned up, and were immediately called out for a lift assist, where they coordinated seamlessly with STEMS emergency medical services.
“We take pride in being able to respond to a variety of situations, from fires to lift assists,” the Tye VFD said in a Facebook post. “Our team is always ready for whatever comes next.”
