Cocaine, marijuana, and weapons seized in Freeport drug bust

FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Two suspected Freeport drug dealers were arrested Thursday, as part of an investigation that uncovered a cache of cocaine, marijuana, and weapons.

According to Freeport Police, officers stopped a tan Toyota Highlander at the intersection of American Street and Stewart Avenue around 12:31 p.m.

Police said they found 3 pounds of cannabis inside the vehicle.

Later, at 2:04 p.m., authorities were conducting surveillance at Driver’s house in the 700 block of W. Cottonwood Street when they saw Juston Driver, 41, leave the home and load a large black bag into a black Toyota Highlander.

Officers stopped the vehicle at West Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard and said a search of the vehicle revealed 19 grams of cocaine, 4 pounds of cannabis, and a semi-automatic pistol with a 50-round ammunition drum.

Investigators launched a search of the Cottonwood Street residence and said they found an AR-15 semi-automatic pistol with a switch device to allow it to fire automatically; one loaded semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, and 952 grams of cocaine.

Both Drivers were charged with violations of the Cannabis Control Act, the Controlled Substances Act, and unlawful possession of a weapon offenses.

Both men were booked into the Stephenson County Jail.
