
Temperatures: Our readings were cooler than average for the first month of the year, only reaching into the 50s most days in January. However, above-average temperatures began in February and continued through April. Our hottest day of the year so far was June 25th when we hit 98 degrees. Our coldest morning was on January 22nd as temperatures dropped to 17 degrees.
Rainfall: Our rainfall report card started off slow. We were below average in the month of March, but several rounds of severe weather brought significant rain totals in April. We remained above average through May. Despite being below average for June, we are still over 3 inches above the year-to-date normal. So far this year, we have seen 28.30 inches of rain.

Record Breaking: The Columbus area has broken seven different records this year. Columbus broke the record high 5 different days: February 4th, February 5th, February 8th, February 9th, and February 10th. We also broke a rainfall record on April 7th: with 3.63 inches recorded and breaking the record from 1964. Our snowstorm in January broke monthly snowfall records in many cities, including Columbus.
Severe Weather: We have had over 30 Weather Aware days so far this year, due to storms, snow, and heat. Our snowstorm on January 21st brought school closures across the region and many cities saw upwards of 6 inches.
Severe Weather ramped up in February. For the first six months of the year, at least 9 tornadoes have been reported in the WRBL News 3 area. You can view the full list below:
