Man arrested, charged after attempted bank robbery in Alexandria, police say

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — Alexandria police said a man who tried to rob a bank last month was arrested and charged.

On Tuesday, June 24, at around 9:30 a.m., officers with the Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to the M&T Bank, located at 833 S. Washington St., for reports of a bank robbery in progress.

The suspect reportedly went into the bank with a threatening note, demanding money. He then ran away before he got any cash.

Later that day, he was arrested in Prince George’s County, Md., for a separate bank robbery.

He was identified as 35-year-old Jonathan Robinson.

APD said it charged Robsinson with attempted robbery by threat and wearing of masks or hoods to conceal identity.

Robinson is still in custody in Maryland and is waiting to be extradited to Alexandria.
