East Bay arson suspect sought, accused of multiple vehicle fires
(KRON) — The Emeryville Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying an arson suspect who allegedly set multiple vehicles on fire over the weekend before attempting to ignite a local business.

Police responded on Saturday at 7:14 a.m. to the report of a vehicle fire in the rear alley of Pak ‘N Save, located at 3889 San Pablo Avenue. Arriving officers found three vehicles on fire, which were extinguished by the Alameda County Fire Department.

Investigators reviewing nearby surveillance video saw a suspect intentionally setting the fires to the three vehicles, and attempted to ignite a fourth but were unsuccessful, Emeryville PD said.

After lighting the vehicle fires, the suspect then went south down San Pablo Avenue to Lanesplitter Pizza & Pub, according to police, where he attempted to set the building on fire.

No injuries were reported in the fires.

Emeryville PD on Wednesday released a photo of the arson suspect to the public. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a mustache who is approximately 35 to 50 years old.

“If you recognize the suspect or have any information related to this incident, please contact the Emeryville Police Investigations Unit at 510-596-3700,” police wrote. “If you see the suspect, do not approach—please call 911 immediately.”
