Coast Guard currently searching for missing boater in Lake Pontchartrain

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Coast Guard is searching for a man after he reportedly went into Lake Pontchartrain.

The New Orleans Police Department reported receiving a call of two missing boaters from a family member, after their boat was found in the 2000 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Officers then alerted the Coast Guard.

NOPD officers said they were able to rescue one boater, who was taken to a hospital for treatment. The search continues for the second boater.

The boater is described as a 51-year-old white male, bald and has a back tattoo. He was last seen wearing swim shorts.
