LaGRANGE, Ga. (WRBL) — One woman is dead after brandishing a firearm at deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office during a standoff.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Monday around 9:09 p.m., a report came in from an adult woman from a home in the 200 block of Mountain Laurel Drive, who was threatening to kill herself.
Deputies and the Troup County AMR responded to the scene and attempted to communicate with the woman inside the home, while operators tried to call her phone, according the sheriff’s office.
The woman spoke with operators several times before hanging up the phone and the deputies were never able to make direct contact with her.

The GBI responded to the scene and began an independent investigation and the deputies were place on administrative leave, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
