Update
HYRUM, Utah (ABC4) — New details have been released regarding the SWAT situation in Cache County.
At around 5 a.m. on June 29, Cache County deputies responded to a home in Hyrum after a person called police and said he killed his wife. As deputies arrived on scene, a male suspect, 45, opened fire on the responding officers.
Deputies took cover and called in the sheriff’s office SWAT team.
As SWAT arrived, the suspect opened fire and SWAT team members returned fire. An armored vehicle from Logan, Brigham, and Ogden police departments were called in and containment was set up around the house.
Negotiation teams made contact with the suspect and the suspect sent pictures of a bomb vest and what “appeared to be explosives inside the house,” a press release states.
There has been no contact with the suspect for a few hours, officials said. Armored vehicles are clearing windows so SWAT officers can see into the house at this time.
This is an ongoing investigation.
