Gloucester Township Police share tips for driving during flash flooding

(WPHL) — As a series of thunderstorms make their way through the area, Gloucester Township Police have shared tips for driving during flash flooding.

“Turn around, don’t drown”, they said in a post on Facebook.

Remember these tips:

  • Water on the roadways may be deeper than it looks. Don’t risk driving through a flooded roadway.
  • Do not approach downed tree limbs or wires that are blocking roadways or near your home. The wires may still be live.
    • Call 9-1-1 for properly trained responders to assess the situation and take action as necessary, including securing the area and notifying utility companies.
  • Do not go past/ drive around caution tape, traffic cones, or barricades.

Flash flooding could hit the Philadelphia area today starting at 2 p.m.
