This Week in Louisiana Politics: Supreme Court to rehear redistricting case, new laws going into effect in July

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The U.S. Supreme Court did not hand down an expected decision on Friday regarding Louisiana’s long-fought redistricting case. Instead, the Supreme Court said it needs to rehear the arguments regarding the new sixth congressional district map.

Bills we told you about back in the regular legislative session have been signed by the governor and became laws, which go into effect July 1.

The Louisiana Hunger Coalition, a group dedicated to ending hunger for all of our state’s residents, is making a plea to educate people about how the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” might affect our most vulnerable population.
