Robbery suspects use stolen car to ram into jewelry store

(KRON) – Suspects rammed a stolen vehicle into a jewelry store in a robbery on Sunday, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

At 2:45 p.m., Sunnyvale authorities responded to a jewelry store located in the 1000 block of East El Camino Real for the report of a robbery.

SDPS were informed that a vehicle rammed into the building to gain access. Subsequently, suspects used hammers to smash display cases and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

A person in the store suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the robbery and was taken to the hospital, said SDPS.

According to authorities, the suspects dispersed into multiple waiting cars, while leaving behind the vehicle slammed into the building. SDPS said the vehicle was found to be stolen.

Officers located one of the getaway cars and attempted to pull over the vehicle. A pursuit ensued after the driver did not comply, but the pursuit was terminated “in the interest of public safety,” per authorities.

Anyone with information regarding this ongoing investigation is asked to contact Detective G. Limon at 408-730-7110.
