One injured in early morning shooting in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police are investigating after one person was injured during an early morning shooting.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said officers observed Jackson firefighters aiding a person on North State Street just after 12:00 a.m. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to Martin, no arrests have been made in connection to the case. Anyone with information can contact the Capitol Police Department at 601-359-3125.
