Eight injured in Jackson shooting, one in critical condition

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Eight people were injured during a shooting in Jackson early Monday morning.

The shooting occurred at North Mart Plaza shortly after 12:00 a.m. on August 11.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said Capitol police discovered eight individuals, ages 21 to 40, had suffered gunshot wounds. They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Martin said one person was in critical condition, and the others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information can contact the Capitol Police Department at 601-359-3125.
