1 killed, 1 injured in dirt bike crash on Ruritan Road in Wilkes County, NCSHP says

RONDA, N.C. (WGHP) — One person was killed and another was injured in a crash involving dirt bikes in Wilkes County Saturday afternoon.

At around 4:50 p.m., the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal crash in Wilkes County on Ruritan Road near Ruritan Club Road. A 2014 Suzuki dirt bike traveling north on Ruritan Road lost control and collided with a 2007 Suzuki dirt bike, which was also traveling north on Ruritan Road.

Both drivers lost control and were ejected from their dirt bikes.

The driver of the 2014 Suzuki, Charles Garrett Blevins, 32, of Roaring River, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the 2007 Suzuki, a juvenile, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation indicates that careless and reckless driving contributed to the crash.

Ruritan Road was closed for approximately two hours following the crash.
