Teens riding dirt bike in Pleasanton injured in ‘serious crash’: police

(KRON) — Two teenagers riding an electric dirt bike were injured after a “serious crash” Tuesday evening, the Pleasanton Police Department (PPD) said in a social media post. Police said the teens were riding a Talaria Sting at about 30 mph on a sidewalk of Santa Rita Road.

Then, the teens collided with an SUV exiting a nearby parking lot, according to PPD. One of the teens suffered a laceration, which required life-saving emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.

PPD did not specify what the other teen’s injuries were. However, both teens are expected to survive, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. PPD says these kinds of electric dirt bikes “pose a significant safety risk.”

“It serves as an important reminder to know and follow the rules of the road. Many pocket bikes (electric dirt bikes), like the Talaria and Surron brands, are not street legal and pose a significant safety risk,” the department wrote in a social media post.
