ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Zachary Manning, 31, for allegedly strangling a woman.
On June 26, around 3 a.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of North Main Street for reports of domestic violence. The victim was taken to Swedish American Hospital shortly after authorities arrived.
At the hospital, the woman told officials that she attempted to leave the apartment before Manning attacked her.
The suspect hit her in the back of the head multiple times with a beer can, punched her in the face and strangled her, according to court records.
The woman had visible injuries, police reported.
Manning was released on pretrial for another incident and was court-ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim.
Manning is charged with domestic battery that caused bodily harm while having prior convictions, aggravated domestic battery that caused strangulation and violating pretrial release.
