Officers were called to the 600 block of Score Street for reports of domestic battery on August 16, around midnight. The victim told authorities the situation began when Moore started pushing her.
The woman grabbed a hammer to protect herself, but Moore took it from her and hit her once in the eye with it, according to court records.
Witnesses corroborated the victim’s story.
Moore was also in violation of a 5-year ban that prohibited him from entering Rockford Housing Authority properties.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody the next day in the 2200 block of Broadway when police were called to the area for an unrelated incident.
He is charged with aggravated battery while using a deadly weapon, domestic battery that caused physical contact, criminal trespassing to state land, resisting an officer and violating pretrial release.
