UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (DC News Now) — There’s a new school leader in Prince George’s County, and we are learning what his vision is for the students as he serves as the interim superintendent.
Friday afternoon, newly appointed Interim Superintendent Shawn Joseph presented his plans for taking the school system in a new direction.
“Serving our children is an honor, and we have the opportunity to help our children fulfill their wildest dreams”.
Joseph is calling his vision for the school system his 100-day plan. He says it is a strategic approach focused on collaboration, academic excellence, and results.
“We will focus on academics, we will review the academic data from every school in the district, not only looking at outcomes but input and supports we will identify what’s working and we will identify what’s not. Our goal is to make each student successful in the classroom”.
Joseph was presented with a contract on Thursday from the Board of Education. He recently served as an assistant professor at Howard University. He also worked as a former Deputy Superintendent for teaching and learning for Prince George’s County Public Schools.
