Power outages reported across WV, KY, OH region

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – Crews are working to restore power to customers impacted by severe storms that hit part of the Tri-State region Thursday night.

As of Friday afternoon, Appalachian Power said 4,717 customers remain without power in their West Virginia coverage area.

In West Virginia, Appalachian Power is reporting 389 outages in Boone County, 11 in Cabell County, 47 in Clay County, 10 in Fayette County, 44 in Greenbrier County, 432 in Kanawha County, 472 in Lincoln County, 50 in Logan County, 676 in Marshall County, less than five in Mason County, 27 in Mercer County, 1,149 in Mingo County, less than five in Monroe County, less than five in in Nicholas County, 72 in Ohio County, less than five in Putnam County, 14 in Raleigh County, 40 in Summers County, 1,249 in Wayne County and 26 in Wyoming County.

The Appalachian Power outage map says most power restoration in the WV area should be complete by 4 p.m.

Mon Power is also reporting 979 total outages in some of its counties across West Virginia. These include one in Barbour County, six in Brooke County, one in Clay County, three in Greenbrier County, 708 in Hancock County, 25 in Lewis County, 35 in Marion County, two in Mineral County, 12 in Monongalia County, five in Monroe County, two in Morgan County, seven in Nicholas County, two in Pendleton County, two in Pocahontas County, three in Ritchie County, one in Summers County, 35 in Taylor County, 46 in Tucker County, 55 in Upshur County and 28 in Wetzel County.

Kentucky Power is reporting a total of 70 outages in its area. By county, this includes 34 in Boyd County, less than five in Breathitt County, less than five in Johnson County, 19 in Knott County, less than five in Leslie County, less than five in Letcher County, less than five in Martin County, less than five in Perry County and less than five in Pike County.

In and around our region of their coverage area, AEP Ohio is reporting less than five outages in Adams County, six outages in Lawrence County, less than five in Pike County and 10 outages in Scioto County. Buckeye Rural Electric is reporting four outages.
