Arlington ISD prioritize families with wraparound support and community impact

ARLINGTON (KDAF) — When it comes to education, Arlington ISD (AISD) goes beyond textbooks and test scores. This North Texas school district is showing what it means to serve a community by focusing on students and entire families through a support system built on services, family engagement, and meaningful community partnerships.

At the heart of this mission is AISD’s Face Team, a dedicated network of supporters whose sole focus is helping students and families navigate the school year successfully. Whether it’s learning opportunities for parents, language accessibility, or ensuring students start the year with quality school supplies, the Face Team’s goal is simple: connect families to the tools they need for success.

“We do everything we can to make sure students are on the right foot at the beginning of the year,” Dr. Matt Smith, Superintendent of AISD, said.

Plus, each campus has its own family liaison, someone whose job is to welcome parents, build bridges to teachers and staff, and ensure no student or guardian ever feels left out of the learning experience. What truly sets AISD apart from charter or homeschool alternatives is its commitment to building parent partnerships. Through workshops, webinars, and in-person events, the district provides families with learning opportunities that empower them to actively support their child’s education.

“We know that if a student feels supported by their family while they’re in the classroom, they are well equipped for success,” Smith said.

One of the most anticipated events of the year is the Back-to-School Kickoff, set for August 2 at AT&T Stadium. In partnership with the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation, this massive community event equips students with free backpacks, essential school supplies, dental screenings, haircuts, and more. Families are encouraged to register online ahead of time.

“The whole goal is to bring our community together to ensure that students have what they need to kick off the school year right,” Smith said.
