ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Donta Johnson, 42, for allegedly attacking a pregnant woman while she attempted to call authorities.
On March 14, around 11 p.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Ford Street for reports of domestic battery. The woman told officials the incident started when they were arguing, and he pulled her hair.
The situation escalated when Johnson punched her, according to court records. The woman attempted to hit the suspect with a chair, but was hit in the face again, authorities reported.
Johnson has been convicted of domestic battery three different times in the past 23 years, court documents show.
He is charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and domestic battery that caused physical contact while having three prior convictions.
