TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, more than 100 law enforcement personnel from the TPSO, Rayburn Correctional Center and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office did a full search of the facility.
The TPSO officials said they recovered drugs, makeshift weapons and other prohibited items, such as cellphones.
The jail sweep had reportedly been planned for weeks as part of the TPSO’s new operational standards for the jail under Sheriff Gerald Sticker.
Investigations into how the contraband got into the jail are underway and are expected to result in additional charges for inmates involved as well as any non-inmates who may have played a role.
