TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A woman has been arrested after a crash in Terrebonne Parish on June 5 that left a 6-year-old and a 12-year-old dead.
According to the Louisiana State Police, at the time of the crash, which happened on Louisiana Highway 311 near Fellowship Lane, 31-year-old Cherri Breaux was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry north when she allegedly tried to turn into a driveway and was hit by a 2023 Kenworth heading south.
In the car with Breaux were three juvenile passengers, all of whom, including Breaux, were reportedly unrestrained. Two of the passengers, a 6-year-old and a 12-year-old, died at the hospital as a result of their injuries.
Following a toxicology test performed on samples from Breaux, it was determined by investigators that she allegedly had a blood alcohol level over the legal limit at the time of the crash. She was arrested on Wednesday, June 25, and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:
- Two counts of vehicular homicide.
- First-degree vehicular negligent injuring.
- Three counts of no child restraints.
