Minnesota man “intercepted” in Morganton trying to meet up with 14-year-old

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 24-year-old Minnesota man was caught in Morganton while trying to meet up with a 14-year-old for sexual acts, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 1:40 a.m. on June 20, deputies arrested 24-year-old Gerson Anthony Reyes-Morales in connection with an ongoing investigation. Officials said he “was intercepted by law enforcement
in Morganton while attempting to meet with a 14-year-old victim for sexual acts.”

Reyes-Morales was charged with:

  • Felony kidnapping
  • Felony attempted kidnapping
  • Felony soliciting a child by computer for sex acts
  • Misdemeanor Driving while license revoked
  • Misdemeanor resisting a public officer
  • Misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor

The sheriff’s office said he was not given bond for the felony charges, but received a $25,000 bond for the misdemeanor charges.
