BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (FOX 56) — Day two of the high-profile murder trial in the Crystal Rogers case brought emotional testimony and new details.
The FOX affiliate in Louisville, WDRB, reported that prosecutors continued to build their case against Brooks Houck, the former boyfriend of the Bardstown mother, and co-defendant Joseph Lawson.
Rogers’ daughter, Kyleigh Fenwick, testified she never heard from her mother after July 3, 2015, and said Houck ignored her texts that same night.
Two friends also took the stand, saying Rogers had plans for a “kid-free surprise date” with Houck the night she disappeared.
One witness claimed Houck once said he had enough money to “take a child from its mother,” and another testified that his family never approved of Rogers.
The defense pushed back, saying there’s no body, no weapon, no crime scene, and no proof Houck or Lawson were involved.
But prosecutors said the timing, cell phone data, and a conspiracy to move Rogers’ vehicle all point to a planned killing.
