San Jose police officer arrested after shooting in ex-girlfriend’s home

(KRON) — A San Jose Police Department officer was arrested and charged with family violence following a shooting at the victim’s home in Santa Clara County.

Officer Timothy Faye is accused of firing a gun on June 17 in a “negligent manner which could have resulted in injury and death to a person,” prosecutors wrote in a criminal complaint. He is charged with two counts of willful discharge of a firearm with gross negligence.

The Mercury News reported that Faye was intoxicated on June 17 when he went to his ex-girlfriend’s home in Morgan Hill and fired a gun inside. Two days earlier, the officer allegedly committed child abuse against his fiancée’s 8-year-old daughter, according to the Mercury.

Faye, 48, is currently on administrative leave. He’s also in jail.

The officer is being held behind bars without bail and he is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon, inmate and court records show.

A SJPD spokesperson told KRON4 Monday, “The San Jose Police Department is aware of the arrest of Officer Faye. We take these matters seriously and are fully cooperating with the investigating agency.”

San Jose police did not release further details about the officer. The SJPD spokesperson wrote, “While we understand the public’s concern, we are bound by state law, which limits the information we can release regarding personnel matters (and) administrative investigations. The trust of our community is of utmost importance, and we remain dedicated to accountability, transparency, and integrity.”
