31-year-old Nicholas Santiago was arrested and charged with Murder after police obtained a search warrant for his residence.
According to the Philadelphia Police, the shooting occurred on June 9 at 8:36 p.m. after police received a call about a “Person with a Gun and a Shooting” in the 7100 block of Jackson Street.
Police located 38-year-old Thomas Dooner suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He was immediately transported the victim to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 8:56 p.m.
An investigation ensued, and police found out that Santiago had previously been in a romantic relationship with Dooner’s daughter.
The relationship had recently ended, leading to a verbal dispute between Santiago and the daughter inside the residence. Santiago allegedly made threats before leaving the premises.
Shortly after, Santiago returned to the home on Jackson Street, took out his gun, and fired several shots into the Dooner’s torso before fleeing in a white Jeep. At the time, he was last seen traveling southbound on Roosevelt Boulevard.
“Following an extensive investigation, the Homicide Fugitive Squad and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force developed credible intelligence indicating the suspect was residing on the 3800 block of North Fairhill Street,” said police.
