DA: SF official crashed sheriff’s car into parked Tesla, lied

(KRON) – Richard Jue has now been charged after he allegedly hit a parked Tesla and drove away, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.

On March 4, Jue was off-duty driving a sheriff’s vehicle when he hit a parked Tesla on southbound Diamond Heights Boulevard near Duncan Street, according to prosecutors. The collision caused severe damage to both vehicles; the Tesla was totaled, according to the DA.

Jue did not formally report the accident until two weeks later. His initial report claimed he was the victim of a hit-and-run in a parking lot, according to court records. The following day, he apologized and made another report that he had caused the accidents and fled the scene without leaving a note.

The San Francisco Sheriff’s Office Chief of Staff was charged with misdemeanor hit and run and misdemeanor filing a false police report.

Jue is not in custody; his bail was set for $7,500. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
