EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (ABC4) — A suspect wanted on multiple felony charges was shot and killed by a Utah County SWAT Team on Monday.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office says their Special Victims Unit was made aware of an Aggravated Sexual Assault that begin Sunday night and continued into Monday morning. The victim was treated for injuries at the hospital and notified police.
The suspect in this incident was being investigated for multiple felonies, including Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Kidnapping among other felony offenses. Due to the violent nature of the suspect, the Utah County SWAT Team was sent to serve a search warrant at the suspect’s residence.
As the SWAT team entered the residence, they encounter the armed suspect. The suspect was given multiple orders to drop their firearm and surrender. The suspect refused and pointed the firearm at SWAT officers, resulting in the suspect being fatally shot by officers.
Life saving mesaures were immediately given and an ambulance was called, but the suspect was prounounced dead on scene. No officers were harmed in the incident.
The Utah County Critical Officer Involved Protocol Team is invesitgating the incident.
