LGBTQ-themed free library wagon hopes to spread ‘queer joy’ for Portland Pride Parade

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The owner of a Little Free Library in Clackamas is now setting her sights on the Portland Pride Parade next month with the goal of including a mobile library on wheels as part of the celebrations.

Savannah Moore has already decked out her current Little Free Library in Happy Valley in rainbow decorations in honor of pride. Now she’s fundraising to purchase a wagon, buy more books to fill it with and have her Little Free Library on Wheels take part in the Portland Pride Parade on July 20.

Moore currently has a GoFundMe fundraiser set up to make her dreams come true, saying she hopes to use the Little Free Library on Wheels for other Pride events moving forward.

“I’m hoping to get some more donations or books. If people have any that they would like to donate, I’ve cleared out my independent used book stores, so now I’m faced with buying new books,” Moore said.

According to the fundraiser, the aim is to help spread “queer joy” by sharing more than 100 affirming stories with readers of all ages.

Moore also hopes to open another Little Free Library in Gresham.
