AVON, Wis. (WTVO) — A 26-year-old man from Winnebago was killed in a head-on crash in Rock County on Sunday night.
According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at 10:49 p.m. on W Hy 81 just east of S Cty Tk T.
Police said a Ford F350, driven by a 30-year-old man from Marion, Iowa, was traveling westbound on W Hy 81 when he crossed the center line and into the oncoming lane. Authorities said the driver attempted a corrective maneuver but was unsuccessful and hit a Nissan Sentra head on.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Ford were taken to local hospitals for serious injuries.
Police said the victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
No charges have been announced, but authorities said the investigation is still ongoing.
