SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Monday, Utah! After a cooler weekend, we’ll start to warm things back up as we head into Monday afternoon. The cold air from that big trough is lifting away, and with some southwest winds moving in, temperatures will bump up about 5 to 10 degrees compared to Sunday. Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 70s for most northern valleys with 80s and low 90s in southern Utah. Southwest winds will remain below Red Flag Warning criteria over southern Utah; however, breezy winds will still help fan the flames already raging down there.
By Tuesday morning, expect milder lows and that gradual warming trend to continue through the week. Highs will climb back toward the 90s for most valleys by the end of the work week.
Overall, the weather stays pretty quiet this week. A weak system brushing by on Tuesday could spark a few mountain showers in northern Utah, but moisture is pretty limited. Another quick-moving system later in the week might stir up some isolated mountain storms and bring breezy afternoons on Friday and Saturday, with some stronger wind gusts. Stay tuned.
